Those who turned back among you the day the two hosts met: the satan caused them to slip only for some of what they earned. But God has pardoned them; God is forgiving and clement.

Those of you who turned their backs on the day the two armies clashed – it was Shaytan who made them slip for what they had done. But Allah has pardoned them. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, All-Forbearing.
Those of you who turned away on the day that the two hosts met, it was the devil who caused them to deviate because of some of what they had gained. And God has pardoned them, for God is Forgiver, Compassionate.
Those of you, who turned back on that day when the two armies clashed, it was their selfish desire which caused them to backslide. This happened because of their imperfections. Allah pardoned them (since their good outweighed their shortcomings). Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing.

He is Ghafurun (Indulgent), and Halimun (Forbearing).
Those among you who fled the battle ground were let to be possessed by Satan in account of some of their misdeeds. God, however, forgave them as He is the most forgiving, the Most Tolerant.

Verily, Allâh is Great Protector, Ever Forbearing.
Those of you who fled on the day when the two hosts met, only Satan had made them stumble because of some of their deeds. Certainly Allah has excused them, for Allah is all-forgiving, all-forbearing.
