And messengers were mocked before thee; then there surrounded those who derided them that whereat they mocked.
Messengers before you were also mocked, but those who jeered were engulfed by what they mocked.
And messengers before you have been mocked, but those who mocked were then surrounded by that which they were mocking!
Indeed, (O Prophet) even before your time Messengers have been mocked, but in the end, the mockers were overwhelmed by the very thing they ridiculed (the Divine retribution).
And messengers were mocked before thee; then there surrounded those who derided them that whereat they mocked.
Andmessengers before you were mocked, but those who ridiculed were then surrounded by that which they mocked!
Messengers before you have been mocked, but those who mocked were then surrounded by the object of their mockery!
Messengers before you have been ridiculed, and, consequently, those who ridiculed them incurred the retribution for their ridiculing.
Many apostles have been scoffed before you; but they who scoffed were themselves caught by what they had ridiculed.
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
And, indeed, before thy time have apostles been derided - but those who scoffed at them were overwhelmed by the very thing which they had been wont to deride.
Messengers before thee, indeed, were mocked, but that whereat they mocked surrounded those who scoffed at them.
Other Messengers before you were also mocked, but those who scoffed at the Messengers were overtaken by the same scourge that they had scoffed at.
Messengers who were sent before you O Muhammad were also bombarded with foul epithets, the infidels mocked them and gave them a lick with the rough side of their tongues and called them everything they could lay their tongues to. In consequence were the mockers beset on all sides by the same material and immaterial things they had turned in to ridicule.
The previous Prophets also were laughed at. But the same thing that they were laughing at (the Lord’s punishment) came to haunt them back.
Indeed, (many) Messengers were mocked before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), but the scoffers were surrounded by that, whereat they used to mock.
Mocked were (many) messenger before thee; But their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.
˹Other˺ messengers had already been ridiculed before you ˹O Prophet˺, but those who mocked them were overtaken by what they used to ridicule.
In fact, messengers have been mocked at prior to you. So those who laughed at them were besieged by what they used to ridicule.
Messengers before you were also ridiculed, but those who mocked them were overwhelmed in the end by the very thing they had mocked.
Messengers indeed were mocked at before thee, but those that scoffed at them were encompassed by that they mocked at.
Prophets before thee have been mocked at, but that whereat they jested encompassed those who mocked.
Nay, it shall come on them unawares, and shall dumbfound them, and they shall not be able to repel it, nor shall they be reprieved.
And Messengers even before you were indeed already mocked at, then whatever (the disbelievers) mocked at redounded upon the ones (i. e., the disbelievers) who scoffed at them. (The Messengers)
Other apostles have been mocked before thee: But the punishment which they scoffed at, fell upon such of them as mocked.
Indeed, many messengers before you were mocked, but their mockers were closed in by the (very) thing that they mocked:
And certainly Messengers have (also) been treated as mere trifles even before you with the result that those who made light of them (- the Messengers) were caught by the very thing they held as vain and unimportant.
Apostles were certainly derided before you; but those who ridiculed them were besieged by what they had been deriding.
